I put my new PC together. I got the HSF(CAK38) on the CPU, didn't hear any noises. I boot up it posts AMD 1.33 blah blah, 256MB, I go into the setup see if everything is set right, I didn't change anything and I exit. It reboots.

It then posts shows AMD 1.33, 256MB, proceeds to scan for PnP, detects HDD and CDROM. Then, the floppy light lights up and it beeps(one short beep) and hangs. Now what is wrong? This isn't the first system I put together, but it is the first AMD system Ive put together.

My main concern, is the CPU ok? The HSF is/was warm. And if its ok, what do I do?
 
If it's hanging on the floppy, maybe the cable is in the wrong way. Did you try flipping the floppy cable plugged into the drive?
 
I tried that, but I know the cable is in the right way, I went back and recheck, and triple checked how it was supposed to go, after I reversed it several times. Another thing is I can enter the BIOS but I can't move around with the up or down arrows, can't exit, can't do anything in the BIOS.

Anyone got a little help? I don't know what the heck is wrong/what I did(which I did nothing)/Didn't do.
 
take off the floppy and see if it boots, if it does, you are doing something wrong. other than that, i think your cpu is fine. dont worry about it.

Asus A7A w/o sound
1.33 Tbird w/ CAK38 with the thermal grease that was already on it
256MB Crucial 2100 DDR
Elsa Erazor III(till my GF3 comes)
IBM 75GXP 30GB
Teac CD Rom
Teac Floppy

I took the sound card out. And my modem is external. My PSU is the stock PSU that comes with the Aopen HX08, its 300watts, its not on the list of certified PSU's by AMD(atleast I dont see it). I ordered a 350watt but they sent the wrong one.

Im stumped, the last system I built, was a SLOT1, didn't have a single problem.

 
Last bump 🙁 still need some suggestions on what to try or Opinions on what the problem might be. God I feel like such a newb.
