hey...i jus got this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145479 and tried installing it in my Dell dimension B110...it already has a 256mb stick of ram with pc3200 400mhz cas 3 and 184-pin DIMM... i booted the comp and it brought up these errors and so we went into dell's ****** bios and it read that it had 768ram, but the ****** thing wasnt workin...and wuldnt let me even boot into windows at all.. and said we were missing windows files and had a blue screen has well and said hardware failure..plz help

so it stopped working when you plugged in the 512mb stick ?

1. does it go back to normal when you go back to just the original stick ?
2. does it work ok w/ just the new stick ?

if they're working OK by themselves, try different configurations of plugging them into the board.
could also be a memory setting out of wack, go through all your memory setting in the BIOS and make sure they're at default

let us know how it turns out.

1- yes it does work fine im using just the 256 stick now and it works fine...

2- no it doesnt work with the new stick, both together wwas 768 thats wat it said in bios, but wudlnt work neway

Dim3K's have this problem, as have other problems with RAM

sometimes it's backwards compatible, other times it will choke

I can't get my Dim2400 to work with a Corsair XMS stick

I think Windows is trying to tell you that its had a hardware configuration different from its current setup and is attempting to throw at you a security feature that will not allow you to migrate the HD to a different computer, I could be wrong with this though. maybe the RAM is defective?

Its weird being dell, maybe you need the 512 in the first slot and the 256 in 2nd slot..

tried that didnt work either..it loades windows but it loades wicked slow with both cards in...then i took the 512 out and it loaded fine...and it also gave me blue screen hardware failure when both sticks were in

nawww cuz it lets me at first either choice 1- start up normally, or 2- go to bios, i go to bios and under ram it says 768, so its atleast reading it but when it loads windows it loads hella slow and then brings me blue screen and sayin like hardware malfunction or watev

ok so now i kno......the 256 ram i already hav is fine and is pc 3200 400mhz cas 3 184-pinn dimm... the thing is tho i found out now that the comp is 533 FSB and runs ram at 333mhz...so i guess i need pc3200 333mhz...they even make those?

I just took a quick glimpse of your computer specs @ dell...seems to me that board has 2 dimm slots. 1 stick of memory for single channel mode, which is how your system came.
When both slots are occupied you enable dual channel mode, to run on dual channel mode, memory sticks should be of same size, that may be your problem......??? just a hunch, i maybe wrong.

"so i guess i need pc3200 333mhz"

no PC3200 is fine, from DELL---> Note: 400MHz memory performs at 333MHz with 533MHz front side bus processor
