I need the minimum amout of liquor to ask for to make several long island ice teas. I have no bar stock at all. If there are times I could go less than top shelf, tell me. Thanks. Also, I know in the long run fifths of everything would be cheaper, but I'm going for a one time cheapness here ;)

Im not looking for to the dime costs - just good estimates from those in the know.

I'm not a drinker typically, and I don't want to ditz around the store forever.

LI Iced teas you can use cheapish stuff. Something like Sky/Smirnoff Vodka, Beefeater/Gordon Gin, Bacardi rum, Jose tequila, whatever off-brand triple-sec. Figure 15$ per 750mL of this level of stuff roughly 70$ since triple-sec off-brand is cheap.

Perhaps you can get 350mL for 10$ each. bringing the cost to roughly 45$

I used to make LI iced teas with 1oz (half a pony shot) of each liquor. Depends how weak/strong you want them. A 750mL bottle has approx. 18 shots I believe. I could be wrong on that, so you can back calculate.

If you are making 8-10 of these, you want at least 375 mL bottles of each liquor.

You can use off-brand triple sec and most other liquors, but I urge you not to use really cheap tequila (Jose as a bare minimum). My friend once used mid-level stuff for the rum, gin, and vodka, but used Montezuma Tequila. Damn that was some terrible stuff.

Timat is dead on. Expect around 15 bucks for a 750, you don't want to go rot gut cheap. 5 bucks a piece for the triple sec and sweet and sour.

oh, and careful with LI teas. Make sure you use plenty of ice and shake well. Meaning fill shaker with ingredients, add good amount of ice and then shake and strain into a tall glass full of ice. It would be in your best interest to pick up a cheap shaker/strainer - they're cheap. I use a plastic one that has measurements on the side so you just pour into it instead of having to use a jigger.
