my eighth of the year.
i have failed at everyone of them so far
last one, i got straight up laughed at, like the panel got silent and then burst out laughing uncontrollably at me, not sure what I said that was so funny <.<
anyhoo, monday am, is round 8, some of the people i interviewed w. will be back, but not all.
i really could use this job, i already work for the company at a bottom of the barrel capacity, some of my experience is relevant
this is a low level (state) management position, nepotism definitely applies
i gotta shine like a star, or do I peter gibbons it?
:c
pm/advice/etc.
ty.!

You have always had a . . . unique . . . way of expressing yourself here.

I've always understood you, but many of my fellow mods have thought you were being deliberately weird in a troll like manner. So I don't think you are fully aware as to how you come across to others, at times.

Is there anyone on this panel you feel you could go to for advice as to how to better address them? Be rigorously honest and approach that person as you have us, saying you don't know why they started laughing at you, but that you are sincere about doing well in the new position

I don't know what else to tell you, man, except, Best of Luck!

When they ask what your biggest weakness is, tell them you blink uncontrollably when talking to assholes. Then start blinking a lot.

What happened with the interview you got laughed at? Did they ask you a technical or personal question?

What jobs are you applying for? Are you qualified?

Sounds like a pain in the ass style of interview. I had one like that, I don't know if it's considered a panel interview but I was basically in a board room and all the head honchos were in there. It was a job for the school board and like the super attendant of the school board and school, the principal, my potential boss, his boss, and couple others were in there. I felt like I was interviewing to be a CEO or something. It was for a janitorial position! lol. I was getting paid like $7.15 or whatever minimum wage was back then. Out of all my jobs it was the most formal interview I've ever had.

My current job was great, boss asked if I can come over to see him - unformally. He showed me around, we talked for like a good hour about random stuff, then I basically had the job if I wanted it.

I have no great insight to share
no profound nugget of wisdom to see you through
I only have that sweet, wonderful euphoria that comes with....

The first rule is never ever do panel interviews.
The second rule is panel interviewers never want opinions, they want blind obedience.
The only way to improve efficiency is to pull out a gun and shoot every one of the interviewers dead. So, never speak of improvements.

during the interview ask the members of the panel if they would like to come over to your house after the interview for hookers and blow.....

sorry guys, was working and havent had a chance to reply.
for clarity the interview is the eighth with the same dept. not the same position
ive been runner up, or maybe third in the others,
results supposedly are based on my answers, but truthfully its closer to a dog and pony show to fill interview quotas
am I qualified? i could do this job in my sleep, anyone here could.
am i troll? troll is..hmm very broad, i never maliciously trolled :c, and sometimes i am incoherent, i have trouble keeping order of thoughts, always been an achilles :/
and im eccentric i guess, some people irl have called me insane, bent, aloof, giddy, and a lot of other things :/

i continue to get interviews and continue to not get selected, either i project something fundamentally wrong with me, i still dont know why they all laughed at me, i laughed too, maybe i am ridiculous, at times im certain of it, but i clamp down and attempt to project normalcy in my interviews...maybe it isnt genuine, I have no idea.
well, its in 4.5 hours and what will be will be..
i think magnus touched on something important
i gotta project company man/ this is hard to do, im earnest, i project enthusiasm for the job, it is authentic, maybe it comes off as desperate?

state job is retrograde, ask anyone working for govt in any capacity.(if they are honest)
there was a time, a flash a sliver in my life i never would have aimed for something this mediocre, in my 40s mediocre is what i want and low stress.

edited for clarity.

I’m sure I’ll piss people off by saying this, but you’re right - state government jobs are a pretty big joke. I hope to one day get one and coast to retirement. :)

Must be very poorly run. If this is your eighth interview with the same department, I have to assume it's the same people interviewing you? If you've had eight interviews with the same "company" and haven't gotten a job, I think that means it's time to move on.

spaceman: you're the AT equivalent of a UNESCO World heritage site for internet personalities. Hang in there, man, hope it works out for you.

And do post more.

Never did a panel interview, but when I was working, I did many individual interviews. What I looked for was how the subject, if hired, would benefit the company, make it more efficient and contribute to the bottom line. I looked at communication skills and social compatibility if the job involved technical interaction. Be relaxed, show confidence, and a professional attitude. Good luck!

Spaceman, just take them on a tour to explore Uranus. They will have to hire you then
