Here's what happened: I have had parental control software Cybersitter on my Win XP pro system. I downloaded a new version and tried to install it over the old one. This is on a computer that is on a home network with three Win XP machines. The one in question does not have the DSL modem on it, but is one that shares the internet connection. I didn't read the direction that said I should uninstall the old version before installing the new one. So I tried to install the new version over the old one. The first thing I noticed was the video went bad. It looked like the video card went bad, but I swapped video cards with another computer and that was fixed. Must have corrupted the driver. More that that evidently was corrupted. The internet stopped working (sharing). And when I went to display the computers on the network, the computer that has the modem was not showing, and when I searched for that computer, it was not found (not only that, but it would come back with 'not found' in a blink of an eye, not the usual 10-15 seconds of searching). I got the internet and network back by restoring to a previous restore point. But now, if I just uninstall the Cybersitter software, it does the same thing. I tried reinstalling Windows, but to no avail.
Is there any way I can repair this short of formatting my drive and re-installing?
Thanks.
