okay-- posted this over in the networking forum, not getting anything... figured maybe somebody in the OT crowd could give me a hand before i went to bed...
okay, so here's the story- My GF just got a webcam.. she is 6 hours away and she wanted for me to be able to see her still.. so we tried running it through camarades.com and it wasnt working right.. tried netmeeting and it didnt work either, tried teveo and that also came back negative...
when i got my webcam back in the fall i had the exact same problem, and it turned out to be that the ports were blocked. So i talked to the network admin at my school and he told me that port 19900 was still open.. So i used that and sure enough it worked.
I dont think she's freinds with her colleges net admin, and wouldnt be able to just ask which ports were open. I had her run some basic scan from a website that checks common ports, and they all came back closed. Is there a way i can do a more in depth scan? I'm sure out of 65,000 ports (or however many it is) on of them has to be open.. how can i find out which one?
does anybody have any suggestions?
