I have been having the following problem: Occasionally when I boot my computer, when I get to the desktop, before windows finishes loading, one of the following two things happen:

1) The computer reboots, back to the memory test. Sometimes it will do this two or three times before windows will load completely.

2) The system freezes at the desktop. When this happens, I get small vertical green lines running across the top of my monitor. I then need to reset.

My specs are win98se, bios 1004, a7v with via 4 in 1 4.28 drivers, 256 mb pc100 (generic), asus v7700 32 mb sgram deluxe (with asus 6.31 drivers), sblive value (3.0 drivers), Dlink DFE 530 TX net card, adaptec 2940 pci scsi card, maxtor ata100 30 gb hdd, tbird 800, Sparkle 300 W power supply.

Does this sound like a hardware related problem? Software? I have found similar probs on posts, but nothing exact. Please help. I have set "halt on " in bios to "no errors", but still same prob.

Thanks.

I'm with the others, Better ram is needed, and it wouldn't hurt to check that the video card is seated well too.
