Okay I just built a computer for my brother and when i turn the thing on everything lights up everything is running except the monitor doesnt turn on. The monitor's green light goes on for a moment then back off again. I have tryed 3 different videocards and checked the wirig many times over. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated thanks!

System:
pc power & cooling 510w
Asus A8V Deluxe
2 x 512 corsair xms ddr4400
AMD 64 3000+
dvd/cd combo drive
floppy
80gb western digital IDE
geforce mx4000

the asus MB, psu, ram, and hard drive were all working in a different computer a few weeks ago.

I know this suggestion is obvious, but sometimes the obvious is the first to get overlooked.

Have you tried a different monitor?

Reseat the memory and only try 1 stick. Do you have all the power cables plugged into the motherboard?

1) what core does the A64 have?

2) what BIOS revision did the mobo ship with (sticker on BIOS chip will have a 10xx number)

3) is the WD hard drive jumpered as Single Master (no jumper on the pins whatsoever)? I assume it's got a cable to itself, in which case you want Single Master, not standard Master, Slave or CS.

If you need a BIOS update to fully support the processor, you may be able to run with one stick of RAM in slot B1 like amdskip said, as a get-me-by solution to allow the BIOS update.

ah good idea ill try that right now. could the hard drive jumper really have something to do with this? ima try one stick of ram now.

Tryed one stick in blue and the black slot with no luck. tryed changing the hardrive to different settings with no luck. I should have mentioned this mobo was using an fx-53 before sent from alienware. i have reset the cmos a few times, but could they have some weird default bios settings that's causing this?

What core does your new CPU have, and what is the current BIOS version of the motherboard?

Corsair lists DDR-550 (XMS-4400C25) memory as compatible with the board. However, they also make DDR-550 (XMS-4400) which didn't make the list of being compatible with that board. The board might not be able to handle it.

Asus CPU Support chart A8V Deluxe requires the 1014 BIOS to POST with a 3000+ Venice, if I have my core revisions correct. If you are in a Catch-22 situation due to this, one option is to buy a new BIOS chip and a chip puller from Badflash.com, and have them put the latest BIOS on the chip.

the ram i know is compatible caus it was on this mobo in a different system with no problems. I tryed a gigabyte ga-k8nsc mobo and it beeped when i started it up but still same problem with the monitor light blinking green and orange.
