um, yeah, more details would be good.

Like, is it really a linksys switch, or is it a linksys router. You say "We can't even see each other", which is vague. Are you on the same subnet, are you getting IP's

If it is a switch, and you go

Modem--->Switch--->Clients

then you will need 2 IP's from your ISP.

see the more details part, I still don't understand enough to give a good answer. the "enable internet sharing" comment could be yes or no, depending on lots of things.

thnks Weaver,

These are my assumptions,

My PC owns the linksys5 port switch

Karl's Pc, connects vto the switch directly 100mbs, same as mine.

I set a port in the firewall etc.

We can't share folders, I evenShared my C drive ... no go.

I have set up a userid/mailbox for him at Charter.ner .

It appears that I need to setup my PC as a Residential Gateway and establish ICS... but I don't understand why why can't share files !!something is missimg and I think its the hardware/firmware firewall in the Linksys hub.

I think I have to establish a Local Net 192.blahblh blaw hope it helps

Thnxs again

Eric

If this is truly a switch (i.e. no WAN/Internet port) then you really need to make some config changes. Basiclly, you have 2 options: 1-2 NIC's in PC 1, one goes to modem, other goes to switch->karl's PC

or 1 nic, which involves binding multiplie IP's and is so far from ideal that most folks won't even mention it.
