ok, i know a little bit about computers but compared to u guys im definetely a noob. i really need some help. My dad and i are trying to buy a new video card for gaming and watching movies. We currently run a geforce4 mx 440 (64mb). We want something that will run the newer games (doom 3, half-life and so on) with good quality. We need a video card with 256mb, agp 8x, and video out. I think our ceiling for price is $250 maybe a little more.
almost forgot we run a amd athlon 1.8 ghz, 1gig of ram.

that's pci express though we don't have that. we found that out the hard way we ordered a video card thinking that pci express was the same thing as normal pci and now we are looking for a new one. I don't want to to think that im not appreciative of your help, but what else would you need to know to help me with a video card that's in our ceiling? i really appreciate your help.
