Hello all,

My computer was working fine yesterday. I try to start it and the fans power on, dvd rom is read but then I get no video and no peripherals. Is it a mobo problem or a problem with HD.

OCZ 700w gamexstream psu

If you haven't tried these steps already...

1) double-check the seating of all your cards, RAM, power cables, fan cables and data cables.

2) if you have a memory-card reader or USB/flash drives, disconnect them as a fact-finding step.

3) try a different surge supressor... I remember an instance where a computer showed those symptoms ONLY when connected to a certain surge supressor, which evidently had taken a strike of some sort.

4) get out your motherboard manual and follow its directions for clearing your CMOS

5) if necessary, begin testing components in another compatible system if possible (video card and memory particularly).

6) if that doesn't get you anywhere, remove the motherboard from the system and lay it on a piece of cardboard. Equip it with only the absolute essentials for POST: the video card, one memory module, the CPU/heatsink/fan, and no keyboard, mouse, add-in cards, drives, USB devices, memory-card readers, extra case wiring, etc.
