I'm going a little crazy here and I need some help from my fellow anandtechers.

I've got a netgear wgr614 wireless/wired router/accesspoint and a netgear wg511 card. With my current setup, my wired computers work great, however, the wireless connection drops without fail and will never reconnect.

A little more in depth- I've tried to set everything up as basically as possible .... g only, no WEP, any as the SSID. When firing everything up, I get a great wireless connection (80-95% signal at my laptop, 20-25mbps transfers). The problem occurs after a few minutes to a few hours, the connection drops, and no amount of scanning or waiting will bring it back. It takes a combination of rebooting the router, the laptop, or changing the SSID to get the connection back, again for only a few minutes.

I have tried channels 2-11, no difference. I have no 2.4 Ghz phones, my microwave rarely gets used. I have brought the laptop into the same room within 6 inches of the router. I exchanged both the card and the router for new ones, first replacing the router, and then the card. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this behavior?

Thank you ahead of time.

Now I'm really trying to figure out what's going on. In my latest troubleshooting attempts, I left my cable modem and hub running but turned off all of the wired pc's. The connection to the laptop is maintained with no problems. When I turned on my main pc the wireless connection was gone in a few minutes. Is there something one of the wired computers could be doing to kill the wireless connection?

Yes.

What is the IP situation ?? Static internal IPs ??? DHCP from the router ???

How many wired PCs ??? How many wireless ??

What OSs are you running ?? Any servers ??

I was having a similar problem with DLink DWL-G650 card, but then I updated the dirver and it turned out OK. Whe I would run NetStumbler at the same time, it would find my network and a few others, but they would fade out after a few seconds, and then reappear after a few seconds. I have only been running it on the updated driver for one day, but so far no problems.

I've got 2 wired computers, 1 wireless. The router is using DHCP.

1 wired running XP Pro, 1 wired has ME and the wireless has ME. I am not running any servers.

I ran a packet sniffer last night (ethereal) and I didn't notice anything strange (though I honestly don't know what I'm looking for.) About 1 hour after restoring the connection, packets just stopped being sent to the wireless computer. There were a few (2-3) common IP addresses that were communicating with one of my computers on occasion and I wasn't surfing or using any program that was accessing the internet, so I'm not sure if something strange is going on. There was no flurry of activity, though, at the time the wireless connection was dropped.

Thanks for helping
