hello,

I 've got the Abit BP6 mothorboard with dual celeron 2x 433mhz ....

when using the Asus v7700 GeForce card it lockups after some minutes in all 3d games, after mailing the helpdesk of Abit they told me ::: that the AGP is not getting enouph power supply... and they cann't do any thing about it. :( :(

ok, but the voodoo 3 3000 which I have now is working well without any problem.... But I wanted to get a better card...

so, which one should I buy ? Voodoo 5 5500 or ATi RadeOn ???
I'm playing much in Grand Prix 3 and 3d game shooters like Unreal Tournament , Quake 3 ,,, Soldier of fortune.

thanx.

Unless you are playing games with Glide I would get the Radeon (LE) -- it's drivers will continue to be developed and it's cheaper...

Be careful with Voodoo5, if Your power supply is not big enough, You might run into trouble again, V5 is even more power-sucking than that Geforce You had.
From the cards You mention and for the games You play Voodoo5 looks like the best choice.

my power supply is 300Watt...

and as you know ... for dual cpu i'm using win2k.

what do you think ?
Voodoo 5 5500, ATi RadeOn 32m SDRam with TV out,
ATi RadeOn 32mb DDR or ATi RadeOn 64mb ViVo ???

hmmmm,

The Voodoo5 needs CPU speed to gain anything, otherwise it's a Voodoo3 with 4x FSAA for free. Not that there's anything wrong with THAT! :) My Cel450A didn't have the juice to max out the voodoo5, but I could crank the resolution to the max, add 4x FSAA and I wouldn't see any loss in performance.

If you want a big improvement, I'd go with the Radeon LE/DDR which has the most improvement on a slower system (according to this month's Computer Paper reviews). The Geforce2 MX series comes in second to that.

And if/when WSPtrooper comes in saying you need a Geforce3, just ignore him. :| You need a pretty good CPU to use the abilities of the said $300 video card.

A Radeon LE is a good bet.

Whoops... just read you already have a v7700 GTS card. Better make sure it's working properly... Might be overheating if you've overclocked it. (And don't bother overclocking the card, your CPU can't keep up with the card anyways!) Just for laughs, try UNDERclocking the card and see if the lockups go away. Then you'd KNOW it's heat lockups. Anything else.... try different drivers. And call ASUS. ;)

well, the problem with the GeForce 2 GTS is my motherboard...
the GeForce is not getting enouph power on the AGP Slot.

I have tested all the drivers, but nothing helps.

wright now I'm testing the ATi RadeOn 32mb SDR with TV out,

I have to tell you : Donn't buy ATi RadeOn if you are working with Win2k and playing games
like unreal tournament.

here some statistics :

Voodoo 3 3000 16mb : avg. fps = 40 ,

ATiRadeOn 32mb SDR : avg. fps = 29,,,, some times was it only 12 frames :( :( :(

I'm going to test the Asus v6800 64mb, if it does not work then I'm going to buy
the Voodoo 5 5500
