Help please: sound playback in winblows is too fast!

All of a sudden all the sound playback in win xp is too fast. It doesn't matter if it's a video in windows media player, mp3 in winamp, or music in a game I'm playing. Don't understand what's going on. Any suggestions?

Hmm, what kind of sound card do you have? If you have an Audigy with EAX maybe some eax setting might have been switched to chipmunk or something like that. Try uninstalling the drivers for your sound card or sound device w/e and reinstall them.

Reinstalling drivers didn't work. BUT, I did download a program called vlc media player and sound in videos is normal but mp3 playback is still too fast in that program. Are there specific audio codecs I should try installing? BTW, when I say sound playback is fast it's maybe 2x but not chipmunk speed. I'm confused.

Beats me man, you're about as baffled as I am. This is truly messed up stuff, maybe try make a parition seperate from your big enough to put windows and some mp3's on and see what happens then. Could just be a windows problem, maybe a virus, maybe some software from the internet that evil slipped in there some how.

Which drivers are you using? Hopefully the newest ones from turtle beach's website, not the one's on your disk that came with the card.
