Help please. New Pc problem

ok guys.... lets see if i can get some help here...

just bought all the parts for my new pc

Aopen AK86-L MB (VIA K8T800)
AMD 64 3000+
ATI radeon 9800 pro (PowerColor)
Sound Blaster Audigy LS
400w power supply.
SATA seagate 200gb HDD
1.44 floppy
Sony 8x DVD burner

Problem is i put it all together... plugged it in.. turned it on.. it all started but gave me a CMOS Checksum error... i then went into the cmos and changed a couple of things then tried to save and quit. Here is where the problem lies... the computer does not restart... it has power... and i can hear the fans kick in but thats as far as it gets... nothing on the screen... no beeps... it just hangs... so i reset the cmos.. and it takes me back to square one...

Whenever i restart the computer or turn it off and on again it does the hanging thing and i have to restart the cmos. I believe this to be a motherboard problem... what have i done wrong??? also the floppy disk drive light stays on permanantly and i cannot read from it (as i tried to load the raid drivers when i tried to install windows)

anyhelp guys?

thanks

What brand and model of 400W power supply did you get? Quality's important these days 🙂 Make sure its 115V / 230V slide switch is set to the correct voltage for your region, too.

Also, you did get your ATX12V cable plugged in, correct? And check that the board's CLRTC jumper (for clearing the CMOS) is not in the Clear position by accident.

Make sure that the floppy cable is plugged in in the right direction. I don't know why it would cause a checksum error but it might explain the floppy trouble.

ok i have unplugged everything... only things left plugged in are graphic card.. ram.. and cpu.

power supply is fine. connected to motherboard fine

FDD plugged in correctly...

CLRTC jumper? do u know where that is? is that the one i keep moving to reset the motherboard?

am looking for that jumper now... will let u konw how i go..

That's right, the "Clear CMOS" jumper. I used the Asus name for it because I had Asus on my brain for a minute there, but I've downloaded the manual for your board aaaaaand... lessee here... page 56 of the manual shows its location and the settings.
