My friends computer had some problems booting up, so I did him the liberty of taking a look at it for him, I entered bios to change the boot sequence, It would not reboot instead it would restart and freeze, the HDD light would stay a solid red. I have unplugged everything and it is just the mobo and mobo parts still connected but still to no avail.

If I reset CMOS then the computer will boot up again, but if I enter BIOs and leave again it would freeze and the HDD light will still stay a constant red, even though nothing is connected to it.

Any ideas? Help please.

The mobo is a Abit KV7.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try it again, this time remove the power connector from the HD. I.e., completely disconnect the drives.

It's either dead or a corrupt bios. Had the same issue with a NF7 non s I had to RMA. I had just bought the motherboard so I didn't want to mess with the bios. Just RMA'd it. You're friend is better off selling the board as is on ebay for $10 and buying a new one. It's just not worth the hassle, IMO.
