Help Please! Gateway won't.

I bought a new system from Gateway and whenever I start a 3D game my
system locks up. Gateway said that the games aren't compatible with
Win Me just because they are with Win 98 (even though some are Microsoft
games and are new ones to boot). I am thinking about sending it back
because they won't help. Any suggestions?

Get the latest drivers for your system, NVIDIA reference drivers or use the 6.50's from Gateways site. BTW, your video card is a VisionTek. Get the latest SBLive drivers for WinMe from Creative's site, Gateways suck. The M/B in your system is an MSI 6330 (yes, VIA chipset). And if you have GoBack on your system,UNINSTALL IT! And yes WinMe does have problems with alot of games, so much so that alot of game companys won't support there games if your trying to run them on Me. You might want to think about putting a fan in that case also, Gateway didn't provide to much air movement in that system.

Oh yeah, if you want Windows98SE, take the system back and tell them you want to order a business system, that way they can build it with Win98SE.

I used to work tech support alot. It sounds like he was just trying to get you off the phone. I would send it back.

I would install Win98,I`ve the MSI K7T PRO board(msi6330)& use mine for gaming also with a Nvidia card(GF2 MX)anyway it`s rock stable so the problem looks like it`s WinME,either install Win98 yourself or see if they will do it for you.
