I bought a 45 gb IBM 75GXP drive from a trader on here for my new computer and when I go to My computer and then right click on C and go to properties it says 1.99 GB available, 570mb used and 1.44 is available, what's going on?

use the software that comes with them to set it up....sounds like it needs a program to help it recognize the full capacity of the drive

does your bios detect the drive correctly?

when you fdisk'd it did you enable LBA for
large disk support?

if you didnt then under FAT16 you cannot create
a partition greater than 2GB which is where you
are at now.

Are you running in Windows 95? Windows 95 only supports 2 GB HDDS. So, you'd have to have like 20 of them However, try reformatting and installing using the included IBM disket partition, etc. Good Luck!

I had a similar problem a while back with a drive that was too large for my system board to use. I found out later from the system board maker that the board had a limit in size but it could use a larger drive with a bios flash.
