Hi guys. I'm sure I'm just being newbie boy here but I'm having quite a problem. I had the beta service pack 2 for Win2k installed and was having a few troubles running DVD's and burning stuff so I decicded to uninistall it. After I uninistalled it when I enter Win2k it says it can't find the domain name (just a name I picked for my computer) and it won't let me log on. I have no idea what to do from here. I tried going into safe mode without networking but it gives me the same message. I tried pressing f8 during installation and then going back to last good configuration but I get the same thing. I even repaired Window 2k by using the emergency recovery but it's still giving the same damn message. I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me?

why are you trying to login to a domain? it really sounds like you dont have one if you just picked a name. so just log onto the computer locally, not a domain

When you get to the login prompt, there should be a button labeled something like options or whatever (It's the one on the right). Make sure that one is activated (Should change you to a three line login instead of a two line login. change the third line to the one that says - "xxxxxxx (This computer)". Log in as Administrator. Right click "My Computer", choose the "Network Identification" tab. Choose the second radio button labeled "Workgroup". If you are not loging in to an NT or 2k domain (IE you don't have a server up and running configured as a Primary Domain Controller), you should be loging into a "Workgroup". If this doesn't help, ..........., .............., Bring me the PC. :)

Thanks for the help but no luck so far.

There are only two lines when I get there. One says name and the other password. I've tried both of them as administrator, one of them as administrator and every combination of that but with no luck. There is an options button but that only gives me the option of logging in via dial up which I obviously can't do. There are no other buttons.

The computer is my home computer and not part of any network. The message I get when I try to log in says "xxxxxx (name of computer) domain is not available right now."

So I'm still stuck
