HELP- PIII 800 MHz problem!

Something causes the screen to go blank at the dual boot up screen. The PC makes you press the space bar to regain the screen and choose your boot up option. The motherboard is an ASUS P3V4X. The power management option in the BIOS is set to the space bar, but I thought that would only matter if the computer had been on, cuts off, and you want to regain Windows. Somebody please enlighten me.
