Hey, I don't really know much about case fans, hopefully someone can reccomend me a good 120mm fan. I'm replacing my old one (not even sure what make/model it is- I believe it might have come with the case, an Antec Solution SLK1650) because it's starting to get really loud. Thanks :)

If you need something besides the one fan that they carry, then jab-tech.com is an excellent company to buy a Yate Loon from. But their shipping is expensive for one fan - cheapest to here (central NY) is $6.35 by Priority Mail. Nexfan.com may have lower shipping - they have a flat-rate shipping discount code that was disclosed in one of the fan threads here. $5. flat, but they choose the method so it may take the slow boat. I wish the search engine on the ATF was worth a darn, maybe I could find the thread. IAC, if you need 3 or more in multiples of 3, nexfan can't be beat as they have a B2GO deal going on. The nexfan $5. ship code is: cheapship .

OTOH, you could click the link in my sig. ;) I can beat the heck out of them on shipping on those Jamicons. FCM uninsured at about $2. on one or $3. for both...

hmm.. that Yate Loon does look nice :p any suggestions for fans I could easily find in stores though? :( I live in Canada btw. I've checked about 5 or 6 different stores and nobody seems to carry the Yate Loon's. Here are a few stores that I could buy from...

Thanks! Hopefully there are a few fans I could find in one of those stores that are atleast close to the Yate Loon?

"I live in Canada..."

Well, when you gonna complete your profile and make it public so we can know before before offering useless info.

BTW, I ship to Canada and it's not too bad for light packages... :)

does anyone know if this fan pushes more air than the ones that come default with the centurion 5 case?

Hey LT,

Waiting with baited breath for you to tell us what fan... ;) Sorry, not many psychics in a typical computing techie crowd.

Posted elsewhere with no response so hopefully I'll get one here.

Which would you go with. I can't decide:

Scythe "DF series" 120mm Super Silent Fan - L Speed
or
Yate Loon 120mm Silent Case Fan - D12SL-12

I want as quiet as possible at stock voltage/speed and don't know if the manufacturer dBA ratings are reliable with these brands or not.

If any it would probably be the CM that howard pointed out. But I don't think it's much better than the Jamicons I have. At around $9. canadian shipped for one or $13.50 Ca for both they would be hard to beat. Too bad none of the stores there seem to be cooling specialists. And Nexfan ships to Canada - they are located in Pennsylvania so it shouldn't take too long.

That one will work, yeah. Also these are alternatives -

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2494/...0mm_Fan_w_RPM_Sensor_FBA12G12M-BX.html

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2480/fan-18/Panaflo_M1A_120mm_Fan.html

I have a few of the M1-BX fans in my case (one on my CPU heatsink), and they throw off a lot of air for the noise.

LT -- The Yate Loon fan does move quite a bit more air than the stock Cooler Master fan on the Centurian 5. The Yate Loon spins at about 1400rpm moving about 47cfm of air. I replaced both of my CM fans on my Stacker 810 with the Yate Loons. Note: do not trust manufacturer decibel claims -- the Yate Loon is rated at 28dba, yet is a rather quiet fan. A better rule of thumb is to remember that any rpm over 1000rpm will have audible air movement. The Yate Loon at 1400 rpm is not dead silent, but is near inaudible if more than 24 inches away.

My own experience with "quiet" fans provided some surprising info. I bought an Arctic Cooling fan (1500rpm, 56cfm, stated 24dba) which at the stated "24dba" should have been quieter than the Yate Loon. Not so (at least to my ear). When undervolted, the AC motor became rather audible while the Yate Loon was smooth and quiet. From then on out, I never did pay any attention to manufacturer claims on sound output of fans.

Many here love the Yate Loon fans, as do I. They are inexpensive and really are a nice fan. BTW -- the Yate Loons come with rpm monitoring while the more expensive AC fan did not.
