Help picking GPU?

I'm looking to switching to PC gaming because PS3 graphics aren't cutting it anymore. I want to build the cheapest PC possible but still be able to run my game collection on high settings. I play Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Portal, CSGO, PayDay 2, GMOD, and Mirror's Edge. I doubt a 750Ti can max all of these games out, but can a 660? 660Ti? I don't plan on playing any newer games at all. I'm gaming on 1 1080p monitor and won't be upgrading to 1440p or 4K any time soon. I would prefer Nvidia because I might be getting a Shield and I would love to use Gamestream and also ShadowPlay.

I do believe there is a performance penalty when running shadow play so take that into account when selecting a GPU.

Now what is your budget.

A 750Ti would be able to max out those games at 1080p. But probably not at 1440p. I'd get at least a GTX 760 for 1440p.

To the OP, you don't need much of GPU to max the games your interested in at 1080p. 750ti should be fine, it's great performance per watt, but it is a bit weak if you want to expand your games list to newer titles.

Given you are transitioning from PS3 to PC, i'd highly reccomend you consider giving the system a shot at doing more gpu ooomph. For that look at 660 or better from nVidia and R9 270 or better from AMD. Both should be <$180.
