Help picking a 32" tv. EDIT: I'm happy with the Toshiba 32A13 so far.

Same here. I have a surround sound system, so sound doesn't matter. I see that the 32a43 has the side speakers, but I can't find any differences between the 32a13 and 32a33.
 
Looks like the 32A13 has Stable Sound (Eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.) and the 32A33 has Closed Captioning on Mute. There is also a lot of other stuff in detailed specs but from what I can tell from a quick look, the 32A13 has a 3 line comb filter while the 33 has a digital comb filter.

I'd say go for the one at costco, their CS is amazing my experiences.

Also, bring along a truck.

No prob. If I didn't already have a DVD and VCR, I might look at a combo.
What happened is we moved into a bigger house.
The 13" we had in our bedroom is now way too small because it's much further away from the bed.
So rather than buy a bigger tv for the bedroom, we figured we'd move the current 27" from the living room into the bedroom. Our living room is much bigger now also, so with the couch further away from the entertainment center, we figured we'd move up to a 32" set.

Nothing to lose since I can return it if I'm not happy with it.
 
Am I correct in believing that comb filters are only useful for composite connections? S-video already has the signals seperated, correct?

I had to do that quite a few times when I worked at circuit city warehouse. People buy a 27" TV and expect it to fit in their trunk?? oh not big enough entrance, how about the backseat?? oh not big enough entrace. mam, only way you're taking this tv home today, right now, is if we take it out of the box and put it in your backseat. I wouldn't advice me doing that as it may get damaged on the way home or when someone takes it out of the car when you get home, and we won't be responsible for that.

Excellent choice, that's exactly what I would done.

I hope you purchase it using an Amex cc which gives you extra protection and extended warranty coverage for FREE.

Well, I was tempted to spend more than I could afford, but I decided a $350 tv would be good enough for the next couple of years. I just couldn't justify spending a ton of money on an expensive HDTV or even the slightly more expensive flat-tube sets.

Unfortunately, the only Amex I have is my corporate card and I have this funny feeling that my boss might have a few questions about that expense report.

I got it home and unloaded, but I had to come back into work tonight (have about 4 hours of programming to finish before tomorrow), so I didn't have time to get it hooked up yet.
 
I got my tv all hooked up and I'm really happy with it so far. The picture looks really good, especially with DVD's. Going from a 10 year old 27" RCA to a new 32" Toshiba is a big improvement. The extra size is especially nice when watching widescreen DVD's.

The only negative is that the plastic door covering the front A/V inputs is really flimsy. I broke it when I leaned the TV over to get my hands under it when I was getting ready to lift it into the entertainment center. One of the two side plastic tabs just broke. It still stays on though, so I'm not too worried about it.

That sucks about the plastic cover. I learned that the hard way many years ago. So now on electronics I try to be very gentle.

Hell of a deal especially considering the price you paid.
