Help picking a 32" tv. EDIT: I'm happy with the Toshiba 32A13 so far.

Any suggestions for a decent 32".
I thought about HDTV and going widescreen, but I decided I don't want to make that kind of investment right now.
I'll probably make a big investment in a whole new home theater system in 2 or 3 years when HDTV is more prevalent and hopefully the plasma(or some other) technology will be better and cheaper.

So for now, I'm looking for something reasonably priced that looks good when watching a DVD.
I'd like to spend $400 or less. But if there is a big difference in picture quality, I'd go up to $500.

Any suggestions?

Is a flat-tube worth the extra money?

What are some good sites to read reviews?

Thanks

I'd recommend Panasonic and Toshiba when it comes to tube TV's, or any TV's for that matter... Hitachi too.

the Panasonic Tao's are absolutely gorgeous!!!
but they do come at a price $

Toshibas are probably less money.

Its going to be hard getting a 32" for that much. Unless you get a regular screen and not flat.

I got my 32" toshiba for 599 with 0% over 2 years, so I'm just making monthly payments. I love it.

There's also another thread about this.

32" for $400. you're going to be going regular tv, bubble screen, no extras.

We were also in the tv market and was thinking of going as low as a normal 36" but we went for a 48" HDTV widescreen instead for $1500. :)

Here are some that I found for under $400:

Magnavox MS3252S - $350 at Circuit City
RCA 32V550T - $400 at CC
Panasonic CT32L8 - $430 at CC
Sylvania 6432TD - $284 at Best Buy
Sharp 32U-S50 - $285 at BB
Panasonic CT-32G8 - $330 at BB
Toshiba 32A33 - $379 at BB
Sharp 32C231 - $332 at BB

Don't know if any of them are decent and the closest BB is about a 4 hour drive, so I don't know if I can find the ones from BB at other stores for comparable prices.
I figured a flat tube would probably push the price up, but I might be willing to go up to $500 if the improvement in picture quality is noticeable. I'm pretty sure I've seen some flat-tube 32's for around $500 at places like Costco.

Where in the world did you get that tv for $599?
The cheapest I see it is around $1000.

Looks like Walmart has the Panasonic Tau 32 inch flat screen for $597. I wonder if they have it in stock in the stores.

I just returned from Costco and they have some nice deals.
I honestly didn't notice much difference between the picture quality of the flat versus curved screens except less glare.
So I'm thinking I might save some money and go with a traditional screen.
Costco has this Toshiba for $350.
and the
They also had the Sharp 32UF6, which is a flat screen 32" for around $470. I can't find any info on this one though.
Walmart has a Sanyo DS32920 flat-screen 32" for $494.
Walmart also had a Panasonic CT32E13 for $388 and Costco has a Panasonic CT-32C8 for $379.99 that I can't find any info on.

Both the Panasonics are too wide for my entertainment center.

So I'm leaning towards the Toshiba 32A13 at Costco for $350.
Would it be worth paying $470 or $494 for either the Sharp or Sanyo flat-screens?
Or am I better off with the Toshiba non-flat for $350.

Or open to other suggestions.

Costco return policy is the absolute best. You can return a 3 year old tv and get full retail.

Yep.
A few years ago, my dad bought about 4 computers in a row there and kept returning them. He's probably the reason they reduced the return time limit on PC's.:)

When I was looking at TVs, I thought that the flat TVs in that price range looked worse than the curved TVs. Text would be more distorted on a flat TV, for example. I ended up buying a Panasonic CT-27E13 (or something like that) 27" with a curved tube and I love it. It was $260.

Only problem with that one is the lack of component inputs. Plus, there is no BB near me and I'm out of their delivery area.

Costco had the Panasonic CT-32C8 for $379 and Walmart had the Panasonic 32E13 for $388. They both looked good, but because they have the speakers on the sides, they are about an inch too wide for my entertainment center and I can't buy a new one right now.

So far, I'm leaning towards the Toshiba 32A13 from Costco for $349.99.

I looked at the Toshiba website, but I can't figure out what the difference is between these models:
32A13
32A33
Anyone see a difference?

On a TV of this size, component imput will do nothing more than make for cables that are 3x the price than what you need to be spending. You will see no significant difference between Svideo and component in this size (and price range) of TV.

Well, OK, but I already have component cables for my DVD player. I haven't been using them because my current 27" tv is at least 10 years old and only has S-Video input.
It's not really a deciding factor though. The Panasonic that was mentioned is only 20 bucks less and I don't have a Best Buy in my area anyway. So the Toshiba 32A13 for $350 at Costco still seems like the best tv in that price range.

BB has the Toshiba 32a33 for $378.99 shipped. I was thinking about grabbing that one.

Anyone know if there are any picture differences betweek the 32a13, 32a33, and 32a43? I don't care about the sound much as I have a home theater system.
