Just a note OP, if you want a biblical name spelling, it certainly wouldnt have any western character letters in it, let alone be spelled "Rebekah".

I vote Rebecca

I don't understand the trend that parents pick names that they predetermined they would call their child by the middle name.

If I were to name my kids later in life I would have to see them first and get an idea of what to call them.

I can't name a pet unless I have watched it for a week.

In case you haven't done it already, here is a website with a list of biblical names. The only one on the first page that was reasonable was Addi, but there is probably some other good stuff on there.

Out of the two you listed I'd say rebecca

I suggest reading a book called Freakonomics(www.freakonomics.com) by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner which just came out. Levitt is an economist at the University of Chicago and has some done seminal work on statistical anaylsis of baby names, among other things. The name of the baby won't affect his or her life outcomes very much, but there are some other considerations as well.

Don't give her a name she has to spell everytime she talks to someone on the phone. My parents gave me an unusual spelling, and sometimes I really hate going over it again and again and again and again....

I never understood this. Is it so you are "unique?" I guess I am a big fan of function over form :p

In our case, no. Wife wants to give her a biblical name and "Rebekah" is the biblical spelling. Not a lot of good female names in the bible btw.

No to Karleigh !

I like you quesy, but those names are just awful. Simply atrocious.

First of all, Rebecca is spelled like how I just did it, not with a k. When you put the "kah" at the end it's too phonetic--like it's to help a child learn how to pronounce their name. I read your post where you said it's the biblical spelling, so I guess you can own people on that account, if you must. My family thought that Leah was some stupid contemporary name, too, but it's from the old testament as well, so it's not new at all! Karleigh I am not a fan of because I don't like names I've never heard. Danielle is a great middle name, but Illyana sounds like you've been reading too many fantasy novels.

I got Illyana from a comic a friend showed me back in the 80s. I think it was New Mutants? I've just always thought it was a cool name the way it rolls off your tongue.

Karleigh is a German variation on Carla. Do a google search and you'll find quite a few. There's also Karli, Carly, and more.

for the love of God do not name your child after a comic book character, no matter how "cool" it may sound.
