Rebecca, & yeah, skip the crazy alternate spellings.

Why would you call her by her middle name though ?

Never understood why people wanted to name their kids after people in the bible, its not like it makes them christian or something.

If it has to come from the bible... Use as other options
Rachel Michelle
Elisha Marie (yes i know Elisha was a male in the bible, but it sounds feminin with pronounciation like similar to wish (Eh - lish - uh).

if not from the bible...
I like Jessica Lynn

Wife and I go by our middle names. We decided to do the same with our children.

I like Rebekah, personally. If our soon to be was a girl, she way going to be Rebekah Joy. We're having a boy, though. My dad thinks I should name him Brett after Brett Favre. It's not happening.

First of all, Rebecca is spelled like how I just did it, not with a k. When you put the "kah" at the end it's too phonetic--like it's to help a child learn how to pronounce their name. I read your post where you said it's the biblical spelling, so I guess you can own people on that account, if you must. My family thought that Leah was some stupid contemporary name, too, but it's from the old testament as well, so it's not new at all! Karleigh I am not a fan of because I don't like names I've never heard. Danielle is a great middle name, but Illyana sounds like you've been reading too many fantasy novels.

I got Illyana from a comic a friend showed me back in the 80s. I think it was New Mutants? I've just always thought it was a cool name the way it rolls off your tongue.

Karleigh is a German variation on Carla. Do a google search and you'll find quite a few. There's also Karli, Carly, and more.

edit: With either choice we'll call her by her middle name (Karleigh or Danielle).

If you are going to call them by their middle name why not just reverse them? i.e. Karleigh Rebekah and Danielle Illyana...it would probably make it a lot easier on her as she grows up.

My fears confirmed. Please, for your daughter's sake, don't do it. I beg of you. Defer to your wife.

Hehe. There are alot of "Bryants" in Alabama because of Bear Bryant. If this one had been a boy, we were going to name him Jeremy Seth. But, we got a girl so now we're going to have one of each.

I wonder why people think misspelled names are cute?

i prefer traditional/correctly speeled names, making up new names boggles me

I assume you were being sarcastic in your mis-spelling of spelled? :p

Anyways, none of the names listed are spelled incorrectly.

Yeah, Illyana is Colussus' little sister. One of my favorite characters from that era, with the whole Hell storyline. </comicbookgeek>

"Rebekah Karleigh" looks good on paper and sounds good too (when pronounced "kar-lay" and not "karlee" which sadly isn't the case). Chances are though she'll catch a lot of flak for having a common name that is spelled uncommonly. People really hate that, also she'll have to get used to having her name spelled wrong by other people her entire life.

As for Illyana... I think it's bad JuJu having the word "ill" in your name, so I'd stay away from that... I also don't think Danielle works well as a middle name.

I really like how "Rebekah Karleigh" flows off the tongue though, but at the same time I don't like the normal spelling "Rebecca", kinda takes away the flare. "Rebekah Karleigh" would be one of those awesome author names you see on books you'd probably never read, and if you did it'd just be for the cool name of the author.

I'm quite partial to "Rachel Ramachandran" but it'll only sound cool if the last name goes with it and I don't know what that is. I also like "Lynn Karleigh", again the Karleigh pronounced with a "lay" and not a "lee". I'm totally put off on the Illyana thing, though, and not very keen on "Danielle" for any type of name.

If you spell it like 'Rebeka' you can get around that bland 'Rebecca' spelling but still keep that parochial touch from the Biblical spelling.

So...

Rebeka Karleigh
Lynn Karleigh
Rachel Ramachandran (or Ramakandran) pronounced rom-ah-khan-dran.

But all three of those are somewhat dependent on the surname.

quoted for truth. If you're going to give her those names at least spell them the normal way:

Rebecca
Ilyana

Let's see:

Rebekah Dodekah Shecka Mecca Crecka Hecka Kecka Lecka...OK, that one is safe.

Illyana Poop-on-a Stup-on-ya Crouton-a Espana....ugh, better pass.

You should do this test before giving a child any name to avoid torment in school ;)

lol, we did this test for all of our kids.
