Help, Performance of new video card, AIW x800xt

I just received my new ATI AIW x800xt, which is replacing my MSI Geforce4 ti4400 card.

The graphics are great on the new card but the lag is close to what I was experiencing on my Geforce 4.

I'm playing "Fear" single player, CPU set at med., video med. 1024 x 768@ 32.

Am I expecting too much or does it sound like I am having a problem?

P 4 3.2 Northwood
Asus P4p800 SE ( 865PE)
1 gig Corsair Vaue select 3200
Enermax 365P-Ve (350w)
sound on Motherboard

Did you run driver cleaner before installing Ati drivers? Also, run 3dmark05 on the system, and see what it gets. You should be getting a score somewhere around 5000-6000.
