Help! PDF compression/split

I have a pdf file that i would like to take to school. The pdf file is completly in text. The file is however 1.6 megs so will not fit on my floppy. I was wondering if anyone knew how to split a pdf file or compress it. I have heard of software that turns pdf text into word document, if anyone could point me to that it would also be helpful. Sorry if this counts as a double post.(posted on technical forum to)

If you have a *nix box this will work XPDF.

Have you tried Winzip or other zip utilities? This might give you just enough to get the file onto one floppy.

Bah, i dont have any nix boxes here, just old windows 2000. I tried winzip but that does not work either. Keep the ideas coming! I am currently looking for the programs that turn pdf into word doc format.
