i was moving my computer to a new case. and now it doesnt power up. The only thing that works is the cpu fan and the led lights. I can also hear the harddrive sound and there's a red led light on the motherboard.
the screen is just blank. (i've tested the videocard on other pc and it works)
What could be wrong with this computer. A've tried removing and installing parts all over again, same thing. Please help. (also i've checked the battery voltage = 3.05 ) , tried reseting CMOS. But still the same story. The there arent any burn marks on the cpu. And i assume motherboard works, because of the led's and harddrives.

You moved it to a new case you say. Got all stand offs for mobo installed? Nothing under mobo that could cause a short (screws)? All case wires firmly attached to mobo ( power,HD,reset, etc...)?

If all the components are known good-working parts then (1) something is shorting to the case, (2) Something isn't plugged in or jumpered correctly, or (3) something has been damaged in the move (ex. leaving the PSU plugged-in but off, and the 5v standby current hosed something- I've done while moving a vid card and fried it :disgust: )

At this point, I'd prolly pull the mobo, lay it on a phonebook with just cpu (+HSF), ram and vid card. Then hook mouse, KB and monitor. See if it'll POST. If so, start looking for the extra standoff screwed into the case, or recheck the IDE and other cables. If no POST, hook up the case speaker to the mobo (or other mobo diag-like LEDS) and listen for the beeps.

Good Luck with it.
