Help! PC Won't Post

My PC:

ASUS A8N5X R1.00
AMD Socket 939 Athlon64 3800+ X2
Rosewill 400W PSU
GeForce 6600 256MB PCI-E
4x512MB (2GB) Corsair Value Select DDR400
Two hard drives, two DVD-RW drives

I have tried swapping memory in different slots, one at a time, two at a time, etc. I tried a different PSU, removing all components except CPU and memory, still no go. All it will show is the CPU type on boot, but then won't go any further. No indication on the motherboard that anything is faulty.

PC has been running fine until just recently did a reboot, and it just hung there.

Before I go galavanting about spending money and swapping hardware, anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Can you get into bios?

If not disconnect drives and try, including cd roms. I have seen pc freeze because bad hdd and cd-rom!

In fact disconnect everything except cpu vid and ram, then try!

Thanks, but tried that already and no go.

Try clearing the CMOS per the MB manual.

D'oh! DUH! I don't know why I didn't even try that. While that helped, it appears that something plugged into my USB port is causing problems. Probably my iPod again. It keeps seeing it as a bootable device and has caused issues in the past.

Thanks for your help.
