HELP...Partitions GONE.

I tried out some software called Desktop X from Stardock..it seemed to work fine but when I rebooted my Win2k machine..my partitions are GONE! I was planning to build a new system so I went ahead and did that, including another hard drive. My hope was that I could somehow slave the old hard drive to the new one and explore to the data I need. However, the PC will not even boot up when the slave drive is attached. Does anyone know of ANY way I can get data off a hard drive with missing partitions? Any app to restore them, etc..
