I have a NEC 1400 Superscript laser printer. Pretty old but working fine til couple weeks ago. Every time -- and I mean every time -- I print something, I get a paper jam. It prints one page, but seems as if as it form feeds the 1st page through it grabs a 2nd page and both get stuck. I have to turn off/on the printer (or just lift the top lid) to force it to spit both pages out. The result is now I can print only 1 page at a time.

I'm using standard thickness paper as I've always used. The paper tray doesn't appear damaged. Opening the back tray doesn't help.

any suggestion? thanks

You are probably experiencing the same thing I did with a 4-5 year old laser. Over time, the rubber feed rollers dry out and become less "tactile." The result is, paper doesn't always move like it should. The cure is to replace those dried out rollers.

I didn't. I simply took it down to a local business machine repair center.

Try this website: http://www.precisionroller.com/

Your specific model is not listed, but they say they cross reference it by phone or email.
And from what I was able to find on their site, it would seem NEC is actually made by Samsung
there is usually an equivalent model in the Samsung line.

There are laser printer cleaning kits out there which use cleaning agents that both clean and soften the rollers as part of the process. High percentage Isopropyl alcohol (available at 90% and up at most drug stores or departments in stores like Target and Walmart) can be used to do that manually. That may get you by until you find replacements.
