I need some help on how to overclock a PIII 600E. I have read at MaxiumPC yesterday that the PIII 600E is the exact same as the PIII 800EB. This is my first time to overclock, so I thought I had better get some expert advice.

Here is my PC-
Abit BE6-II rev.2 (with raid-disabled)
PIII 600E (Slot 1)
256mb Micron cas3
Adaptec 29160
Seagate Cheetah 10K 9.1gb
Seagate Barracuda 7200 9.1gb
Hercules 3D Prophet II MX
SB Live
Plextor 32X CDROM
Plextor 8/2/20 CDRW
3Com 10/100 NIC

thanks

it depends on your 600E. if its a cB0, then you should be in good shape. if you need help identifying it stepping, review the s-code listing from intel.

you also need to make sure you memory can handle 133 Mhz. Your video should be fine at 2/3 x 133.

Make sure your mobo can do pci/4.

Wow! We both are oc'ing newbies with the same PIII 600e. :)

You can find info on your proc here:

Intel PIII info

My rig:

PIII 600e w/GlobalWin VGS08H cooler & default thermal pad
Abit BE6-2
128MB Mushkin ECC PC100 RAM
Voodoo3 2000 AGP
Creative/Esoniq AudioPCI sound card (couldn't get SB Live! going with this cumine)
10GB Quantum Bigfoot drive
Memorex 50x CD-ROM
d-link NIC
Enlight 7237 case
Red Hat Linux 6.2/98SE dual boot

I currently have it running at default 1.65 voltage and 6x117Mhz FSB for 600@702. Been testing this for about a week now. Ambient case temp is about 31C (case side off) and CPU core temp w/load (using BIOS temp reading) is about 41C (load being several hours of UT nitely- a good test is with maps that are heavy in Rocket Launchers like DM-Morbias... also running seti/folding@home 24/7 when not gaming). I'm waiting for my Arctic Silver to be delivered tomorrow before I go any higher.

Will follow these 600e threads myself....

[Edit: Just to mention that the Mushkin is rated CAS3 but I'm currently running it at CAS2-2-2]
