Help. Overclocking! Im a n00b!

Hi guys, I am trying so desperatly hard to find a good article on overclocking my PC, but I'm having no luck. This is my first PC that I have personally built, so I want to tweak with it. The specs are as follows:

Intel P4 3.06 GHz, 533MHz
Asus Motherboard P4S800D
Stock Cooling(4 cooling fans)
1GB DDR PC-3200 Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
WD 36 gb SATA 10,000 RPM hard drive...

Any help would be awesome!

Well, your motherboard has serious problems getting over 225 fsb, but that shouldn't be a big deal, since you have a 566 3.06B. The rest of your system looks awesome, although having an SATA hd can cause problems when overclocking. The only thing you need to know, is go to the bios and start raising the fsb. Once you get to the point that it isn't stable anymore, you'll need to raise your cpu's voltage (called vcore in the bios). I wouldn't go above 1.7v max, preferably 1.65v. The P4's don't seem to go that much higher with voltage increases, like the Athlons do, but they do much, much better before they ever need to be raised at all.

Okay, well, I got it to 149fsb which put me at 3.44 GHz, then stuff started going downhill, hehe. So its now at 148fsb, 3.41 GHz, and its working fine, and i still havn't touched the voltage yet. I have a 430 watt power supply. So I'm going to jack it up now to what you prefer, 1.65 and see how much more I can raise it. I'll check in in about ten minutes

There are a few people around here who have 3.06's overclocked to 3.5ghz, Prime95 stable. With what you have, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you joined their club!

well, unfortunetly im stuck at 3.41 GHz right now... I went into BIOS, and the only thing I could find that was VCORE was exactly as follows:
CPU VCore Offset +0.1V [Disabled]

it only gave me the option to Enable it, but after I enable it, it wouldn't let me change the voltage at all...

I've been hearing a lot of stuff about changing the Ram frequency also?
there was the option of:

DRAM Frequency [Auto]
I can change it to manual and put it as any of the following:
266mhz, 333, 400

would that help me in overclocking it more? As I said before, I can't push it past 149 frequency... hehe, i'd love to get 225!!!

Well, then enable the +.1v, then! That should make your chip run at 1.65v. And you don't need to mess with the ram at all. That's for people who want to do what you are doing, but only have PC2100 ram.

whoa... okay guys!! i jacked up the Vcore, im now at 151 frequency, 3.47 GHz!!!

damn this feels good. gonna push it some more, I wanna hit 3.5 even, then im done!

Thanks, but unfortently I can't even handle 3.38 GHz... =[
i thought i had good specs. heh
