Hi, im running the ASUS A7N8X with an Athlon XP 2400+ and 512Mb of pc2700 corsair xms.
I wanted to up the fsb of the cpu to 166 x 2 (the cpu is rated at 266 mhz fsb) on par with the ram which is at 333 mhz.
The problem is, my computer doesnt boot up after i exit and save to the bios, it usually automatically restarts with a nice post beep after i change something in the bios, but after changing the increase to the fsb, the computer just goes idle and the monitor goes to power off mode.

thanks for any help/suggestions

p.s.
running a 9700 pro

You are asking quite a bit for a 1.93GHz CPU to run 2.4GHz without some extreme tweaking.
More voltage MAY get you there, but you'll definitely need some killer cooling to stay there.

Would he have to up the voltage if he increased the FSB to 166MHz and lowered the multiplier to get roughly the same MHz as when the FSB was 133MHz?

Under this method, a vcore up a notch (0.25v) is advisable. The increase in FSB do make the CPU to work harder althou the overall speed is the same. But if u r able to run stock vcore...better.

The 2400+ runs at 2.0 GHz at stock speed, not 1.93 GHz. Also, many newer 2400+ chips are reported to be able to run at 2.4 GHz and even higher. Voltage definitely needs to be higher, but good air cooling can handle those temps at the higher voltage.
