hey all....i am trying to find some evidence that i can use for debate. I need a credible person saying something about how Judicial Federalism (the devolution of judicial power to the state supreme courts) is a bad thing...I can think of some reasons, such as a court in a more "racist" area in the country may provide a different verdict than a less "racist" area, but i havent found any good evidence to back that up...

any help would be appreciated...I have already done some Lexus Nexus searches to no avail.....

thanks a bunch!

Credible Person?? Which one do you want?

Joe Akhiminar?
Alfred Mosiad?
John Jisztneck?
Roberto Almistin?

Point I'm trying to make is that you can make up anybody you want... and lable him as credible :) you think you won't get away w/ this? Hehe, you'd be surprised as to how many people DO get away w/ it. I'm assuming that this is a debate for school? Because if it's completely professional then don't expect to get away with it... in my years.. I have quoted the TIMES wrongly to help my SAT 2 Essay prompt... risky - but I took the shot, just made up some ambiguous answer like, "IN the Febuarary 1994 Issue of Time magazine" etc, etc... it works, most people will take your word for it :)

I've done this during my HS MUN conferences, and I got gavel and gavel (top honors :)) it's all in the delivery, and if you can sound convincing enough, most people will be in such awe that they will look for the wrong thing and would never suspect that everybody that you cited is a fictional character!!

Although, credibility is a funny source nowadays... there are many people who are credible in different ways. And there are times when one person maybe credible to you and not to me. We all have our own line of thoughts, and we use that to make our judgements towards other people. If we run into somebody who appeals to us, then the chances of him/her becoming more credible would increase..... however, if the vice versa occurs, then we'd never view the person as logically credibly... we'd block the thought from our minds.

BWAHAHAHAHAH - (GG runs off cackling) -> (but slips and falls on ASS!) -> "AAARRCK my ass!"

Is this for a high school debating club or something like that?

Are you a member of the debate team?

If so, what level are you?

Are you a master debater yet?

best bet are to look up old magazines and so on. if you have some way of accessing a magazine database, that's a great way to get info.

and do not make it up. that's as bad as when i debated in high school. three out of four rounds i debated people from the same school. they all had the same arguments, same evidence. they all wrote each other's cases. by the end of the day it was so easy to pick them apart.
