ok i'm game. i stopped crunching seti years ago. may as well start back up. seems like they would run out of units eventually with 4million+ people crunching...i'll get it set up tomorrow

btw, i have an XP 1800+. i dont like to leave it on while i sleep, though.

I'd probably join up if you had a drawing to win something, or at least gave away enough to pay for the power. I think I have 800 something WU's for TA, gave up when I had to start paying my own power. 🙂

Sorry, no give-a-ways here.

This is a good plan for people who leave their computers running 24/7 anyway ... it will help pay for a little of the power bill. 😉
 
Way to go smoke! I d/l seti back in December but never did anything with it. I started back up with TA about 1 1/2 months ago and have already done 150 WU as of today. I just started running it on my sons computer about 2 weeks ago so I should start pumping the wu out.

Only if you let SETI run when your computer is otherwise idling and wasting CPU cycles. 🙂

Many, many TeAm Mates are running SETI without any pecuniary compensation ... including myself. 😉

What's a WU? How many WUs can a dedicated 24x7 computer (say, a dual P3 650) do per month?

I've never really looked into this SETI stuff, but this might be interesting...

 
I have 2, soon to be 3, P4 machines (2.4 Ghz and 3.0 Ghz), running SETI, and they put out about 15 WU (work units I think) a day. So if I have these 3 machines running full time I should get about $75 a year.
