I am using a USB 2.0 portable hard drive. It was o.k for long time, but not now. (faint, that's why you're here.)
I had updated my mainboard driver and sometimes it will work.
The USB port in my laptop is USB 1.1 and the mainboard is Intel845.
Operation System is WinXp Home.
Some specific symptom is in "device manager" page it says the device is functioning well, while the drive doesn't appear, say drive f.
