i had posted this msg on the networkign forum but no replies...i think i get more replies on the offtopic forum so here it goes...

I have a pc and a laptop and i connect to my dsl with it. I got a laptop and wanted to share the dsl; these are my settings/hardware

pc with win2k pro; dsl thru swbell in austin, tx and enternet v. 1.5
on my network and dial up connections i have the following:
local area connection 2 :Kingston EtherRx KNE111TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.
local area connection 5: Efficient Networks Enternet P.P.P.o.E Adapter
and the new nic card is
local area connection 6: D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI Adapter
now, i'm not sure which of the three am i supposed to enable the sharing with. Also not sure if i have to put any manual ip addresses on
any of those connections....
i tried the enable sharing on connection 2 and that didn't work...also, not sure if i'm suppose to enable anthing on the laptop.
i've gone to a couple of websites where they have some info but none of them talk abou tthe pppoe, and i don't know if that's any
different.
Also, i just noticed that the cat5 cable that came with the dsl modem is a bit different than the one i bought. The one what came with the
modem says 4PR cat5 and the one i bought says 2PR and is not as thick as the other one.....i guess this could be a problem..
HOpe somebody could help...
thanks

whops... I read the begining of your post 'no replys in networking'
but the same still stands, some people dont like you asking those kinds of questions here
The people at networking can be kinda slow to respond, just give it time. Ill give you a bump too
