I install some ram into my friends PC ( upgrading it ) and everything works fine except when he plays games, when he trys to start a game like world of warcraft for instance, the computer just crashes and restarts. we installed new video card drivers and put the old ram back in and now its doing this.

( the computer worked fine before we installed new ram )

whats wrong?

thx

this definitely didn't have the problem before? Sounds like maybe the ram timings are set incorrectly or the speed is set wrong. Have you checked the bios to amke sure everything is set to automatic?

Well, if you run winXP and you get a memory bluescreen, it automatically reboots before the bluescreen pops up... you will get these if you run memory at faste rthen what it can handle.

also, did you put the original memory back into the slot it came out of? Some mobos have weird stability issues with some of their memoery slots

Easiest way to pin point the memory is to run Memtest. Loop Memtest overnight and if you get any errors, then there's your likely culprit.

Try disabling Data Execution Prevention (DEP). You can search Google on how do to this by editing your Boot.ini file.
