Help on Overclockin a TBird...

I am most likely upgrading to a TBird within the next month or so and I wanted to get a 1Ghz, but seeing the price difference between a 900Mhz and the 1Ghz I was going to consider just gettin the 900Mhz and O/Cing it to 1Ghz... Now I would like to know if this is easily accomplishable or will I have problems trying to get the 900Mhz to O/C to 1Ghz?

Well what would you suggest is the best processor I get to run overclocked stably at 1Ghz?
I think the 900Mhz is the best choice since its not much more than the 800 and 850.

i agree, its the safest bet eventho it will cost an extra 60-80 dollars more than the tbird 750 and 800. But hitting 1ghz is just something to brag about, but nothing much in performance.

I my self do not think that a 100mhz overclock is much to brag about.. At least go with the 800 that would still be no problem to hit a gig.

I understand that you can hit 1Ghz with an 800Mhz easily, but I still think it makes no sense to buy an 800 meanwhile its only like $50 cheaper than a 900Mhz... If I get a 900Mhz what speed do you think I can overclock it to stably? I figure if i can at least get 1.1Ghz its worth it. Let me know.

Why not buy a duron for ~ $50 and hit 1 gig and spend the rest of your money on a nice vid card or something?

The Duron does have less cache. However, performance wise, it is still comparable to the TBird. Sure, it doesn't run as fast, but a Duron 800 is definitely comparable to a TBird 700, especially if you don't use any applications that are memory intensive.

Well you really can't tell much of a difference between Duron and T-Bird as far as running games. What you really want is a kickass video card.

hehe well I got an Unopen Retail Duron 800 for $125 shipped if anyone interested. I also take trade 🙂
