Hello all,

Well the last computer I built 5+ years ago seems to have finally taken it's last breath. And with that comes time to rebuild a new one from the ground up. I haven't been too involved in the computer hardware field recently so my apologizes in advance for anything dumb that I say. I did some quick reading this AM and pieced together a few pieces that I thought looked good. I was hoping that you more savvy and technical readers could take a look at my proposed set up and provide some feedback on the components chosen as well as stability and reliability. Please keep in mind that I am not shooting for a complete top of the line device. Just something to handle Windows 7 Ultimate, some games and other misc programs. I was hoping for about a $1200-$1400 budget. Here's my thoughts:

Case & PSU:
Thermaltake Element G VL18501W2Z Black SECC / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 850W W0319RU Modular Power Supply
-This is a combo deal I found @ Newegg

Motherboard:
ASUS P6T Motherboard - LGA 1366, Intel X58, SATA, SLI Ready, CrossFireX Ready, Triple Channel DDR3 support, RAID, Hyperthreading support

CPU:
Intel Core i7 920 Processor BX80601920 - 2.66GHz, LGA 1366, 4.8GT/s QPI, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core, HyperThreading, Bloomfield

RAM:
Corsair XMS3 Tri Channel 6GB PC10666 DDR3 Memory - 1333MHz, 6144MB (3 x 2048)

Video Card:
EVGA 01G-P3-N981-TR GeForce 9800 GT Video Card - 1024MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0

Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Drive:
Lite-On iHES108-29 Blu-Ray Combo Drive - BD-ROM 8X, DVD-ROM 16X, CD-ROM 48X

And that does it. Comes out to a little over $1200 at the moment. Any feedback that can be provided would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance for the help.

if you have a microcenter nearby you should def purchase your i7 processor from them. i highly recommend i7 930 over 920, similarly priced but is a newer chip.

other than that, shoulda be fine, prolly want to consider a better graphics card then 9800gt tho, maybe 5770?
