help on my HSF

my first time putting on a HSF. The HSF came with a small pack of silicone compound. I just put a little of it in the center and put the HSF on the duron?
 
First clean the slug of the CPU and the heat sink with alchol. Then put the paste on the CPU slug and sred it out thin and even with a credit card or someting like that then install the heatsink and make sure it is sitting flat on the CPU slug
