I am a novice at this area. I just bought a Kt7-raid.
The problem is that it seems IDE 3 and 4 does not work.
I install the driver and followed the direction to move
the IBM deskstar 30 GB(ATA100) to IDE 3 or 4. The Highpoint
bios detect the hard drive and I can set it as boot. But
when it goes to the startup. It just refuse to use IBM
boot to win98. I have been enable the ata100raid as boot
disk at bios. But it always try to boot from IDE 1 or 2.
is there any tricks on this? Or this is a defective motherboard.

BTW, I tried to use an old HD connect to IDE2 and IBM connect to
IDE3, boot from IDE2. I can see the IBM from device manager
/disk drive. but I can not access it and read it anyway.

:(

OK, let's see. Make sure that the "Boot Other Device" setting is enabled. Is Win98 already installed on that drive or not? If not you will have to disable any hard drive on IDE 1&2 untill Win is installed, then you can enable them and still boot from 3.

Thanks, AMDfreak.
I have already installed win98 at IBM HD. it works fine at IDE 1&2.
But when I switch is to IDE 3 or 4, it refuses to boot.I enable
"ata100raid" as the first boot device. setup it in highpoint bios
as UDMA5 and boot device. But it can't work. what else can I do?

Look in the Advanced BIOS Features menu and make sure that "Boot Other Device" is enabled. Please don't think I doubt your intelligence, but I have to ask...make sure you're using the 80 wire IDE cable that came with the board, and that the blue end is plugged in the motherboard. Assuming this is all correct, you may have a bad HPT 370 chip and need to RMA the board. Let me know what happens. Good luck! :)

I have been enable "boot other devices", 80pins cable is here (blue
end plugged in mobo). I can not understand why HP 370 can detect my HD
but it can not work if it is bad chip.

I know this sounds crazy, but when I installed mine it did the same, until I made sure the black end was plugged into my drive(master) and not the gray. I don't understand this with only one drive, but it worked.

Here's to good luck for you as I seem to have none with this board.
