can anyone help me on installing Windows 2000 Professional from DOS ? Do I need a boot disk for that ? How can I make it ? Or I have to install that through Windows 98 or Windows ME ? Appreciate your help.

Just set your BIOS to boot from CD (have CD first in boot sequence), then put the Win 2000 CD in and reboot your PC :)

cclai - you ICQ'd me, but for some reason I can't reply. Enable private messages in your profile options.

Do you want to install instead of or as well as Windowns 98?

when i installed it, i need 4 disks, (for formatted fresh install) to install win2k, then when it reboots, put the first in and it installs that way, never tried it with a non formatted drive. 0.02

Booting off the CD is the easiest way as Snow Patrol pointed out. Another option:

- If you have Win9x installed, copy the i386 folder off the CD onto your HD. Boot into DOS and run winnt32. I cannot remember, but you may need to add the /b switch (winnt32 /b) to do a floppyless install.
