The m7250n will be about 80 dllrs more but money isnt that important. I will be using this pc for video editing like divxing and compressing. What do u guys think????? Thnks for reading!!!!!!!!!!!

AMD. Performance, sometimes price (depends on what you compare), and cooling > comparative Intel models.

Actually, assuming the OP want a media center PC (TV tuner, etc.), the HP Media Center m7248n would be the best bet.
AFAIK, it has the same MSRP as the m7250n, & it features the X2 4200+ vs. the P-D 820.

Oh, & to the OP: CNet shows the massive destruction in a very simple way.

X2 > Pentium D no matter how you look at it.

Hello!!

You're at AnAMDtech forums!! You might as well go to a Ford dealership and ask them whether you should by a Ford or a Chevy.

So we quote benchmarks, and there are many more out there as well as that one, and you are calling us (in effect) fanboys ? get real loser.

And OP, I see the 7250N on dealtime form $1000-$1070, while the a1250n (same place) is $850-$926. So $150 cheaper, and that X2 3800+ will cream a 820D in every benchmark you can find at stock, let alone OC'ed. I have both, and have benchmarked them, and its not even close.

Who cares about gaming for THIS Thread. Per the OP, this PC will be used for:
. I will be using this pc for video editing like divxing and compressing

So, the X2 3800 creams the 820D for this purpose.

I think X-bit Labs article is more realistic:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games.html

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/cpu-games2.html[/Lhttp://[/L]http://[/L]http://[/L]

Apparently some of you missed this one. For the most part, it doesn't matter what CPU you use for gaming.

Uh huh apprarently you missed this one.

Xbit does the same crap as any review - starts the benchmark like a monkey and runs away- with average frames which is really meaningless to how a processor handles the game since we want consitantly smooth whole time...ala fraps above 30 or 40 whole time... Intel while having decent frame rate takes pauses and studders habitually.

Thnks for the extra info!!! Unfortunatley none of my local retailers have the HP m7248n. So, I guess I will be getting a gift card and will be waiting for BB to sell it. BTW, how hard is it to OC??? Can this model be OC'ed??? My skills with Pc's are basic, i think... I do know how to install ram, drives, video cards. Thnks again!!!!

You won't be able to OC very easily, if at all, with a brand name PC.

They lock down the bios so you cannot change any important values, so unless you use a software-based program to OC, you won't be getting anywhere.
Also, software-based OCing = bad idea that doesn't work so well.

If you really want to get into building your own though ( & OCing  ), just hang around here, & we could help you pick out parts for your own custom media center PC :)

I sometimes wonder if AMD marketing hires people to post on forums with these types of questions. That way any CPU tech forum will have an AMD vs Intel thread at all times with the vast majority of people recommending AMD. Just a thought since we seem to answer the AMD vs Intel questions weekly.

I highly doubt you're getting constantly smooth gameplay on either CPU.
