help on $1000 budget; newegg diy combo?

Hi guys, I'm looking for advice on building a pc. It will be used for gaming with a $1000 or so budget. I'm in the US, and will reuse my monitor. This will be my first build, don't even know how to overclock, and don't have any brand preferences. I plan to buy in the next week, heres what I have in mind:

First off, what resolution are you gaming at? Is this including OS and peripherals? What is this build for?

I already have all the peripherals i need. I'd like to run at 1920 x 1080. I plan to play mostly FPS games. I actually plan to spend around $1200 with the OS, sorry. Thanks, Slifer

Check out Left 4 Dead 2 once you get it up and running.

Looks good. You can probably smash together something from AMD for a little cheaper and lose probably no performance, but this is not a bad idea either. If you would like me to conjure one up, just ask 🙂.

This looks good. Your everyday average i5 build. I know I sound bored but I actually enjoy the i5 builds. I hate when people spend $1,000s....

That board seems to be having some DoA issues - hopefully you can avoid it. Solid build though. I'm really impressed with what my little i5 can do.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Hopefully they have the mobo problem straightened out. Definately will try Left 4 Dead 2. I plan on ordering today, thanks again.
