Help - Object Picker problem in XP Pro

I have an XP Pro laptop that when I open the "computer management" console and try to add a user to any local group I receive "error occurred attempting to create the object picker".

As usual, Technet is useless and I am hoping there is someone here who may have an answer for me or point me in the right direction.
