A friend is having trouble overclocking his Pentium3 1.0 Gigahertz Processor to 1.1 and beyond.

FCPGA using an IWILL slocket-II
Motherboard: Asus P3V4X Bios 1005
256 Mushkin PC133 memory

He tried to up the voltage and it still would freeze during applications like 3Dmark2001. It would freeze during the first or second test when he tries to overclock it.

Any Ideas welcomed...

Would the 1006 Beta Bios help?

P3 was pretty much maxed out at 1 ghz. unless it is the new one based on .13 micron or the last rev on the .18 micron P3.

More then likely you are not going any higher then 1 ghz.

More details on the chip would help.

what stepping is your chip & is it a 100fsb one?
the last stepping for the p3 was cDO & the 1GHz 100fsb model would usually o/clock to 124fsb if not higher!
oh, that's with the coppermine 0.18core! :)
