Help o/c opty!!!

Here is my new system
DFI ultra-d (original bios)
Opty 170 (default)
2x512 pc3500 kingston hyperx (default)
2x80g sata in channel 3&4 in raid 0
gf 6200 video card!!!
antec true power 480w (20-24pin adapter)

when i plug in the anything in the ide channels, then I cannot boot into windows!!??? when this system was outside of the case, it did 10x250 1.4v, ram @speed 3.0v 2-3-3-8 without any problem. The only thing different when I put this in the case is that i'm using a different dvd burner now. Please help with any insight. thanks
The other question I have is that what is the safe temp range for the NB? I replace the original hs/fan chipset with a zalman passive heatsink and IE guard says temp of the NB is about 50ish.....

I don't think the overclock is preventing you from booting into Windows. Sounds like your computer is not detecting the SATA drives upon startup when you have a device connected to an IDE port. The computer is looking at the IDE channel for a boot device first. You have to enter BIOS and adjust the settings so that it goes to the SATA drive to look for the OS first. I had a similar problem with my setup and that did the trick for me. Unfortunately, I don't have your mobo so can't tell you where this is in BIOS. If you can't find the boot settings in BIOS then you might want to check the DFIstreet forums.

The temp on my chipset can reach up to 43C with the overclock I'm running. 50C shouldn't cause any damage to it. As long as you've confirmed system stability with the overclock you'll be fine. If the temp is making you nervous then make sure you have good airflow in the case. A good place to start would be to use a front intake fan so that air is blowing over the Zalman heatsink.

How are thouse ec dvd playrs/burners, i planing to build a system and looking a good dvd drive that can READ disks very well.

no, i did not do that right away because i would never thought that was the problem. Actually, the lite-on will read ANY disk and little quieter than the NEC
